Have you ever felt betrayed in life? DO you sense that something is wrong but maybe can't put your finger on what?Have you experienced depression, anxiety or other metal or emotional disturbances?
If you can answer yes, and most of us can, you have most likely had a an experience, or multiple experiences or traumas, that have stifled, suppressed or completely divorced you from your instincts.
Instinctively, we know what is good for us—what smells good, tastes good, what will make us healthy or what will make us sick. This goes beyond what we put into our bodies, as far as nutrition goes. This ties into every area of our life: our health, career choices, where we live, who we partner with (romantically and professionally).
Our instincts tell us, yes, or no. This now, not this, not yet it's not ripe. Pause. Go. Eat. Rest. Sleep.
When we experience disturbance to these natural rhythms and impulses we begin to doubt our own ability to choose for ourselves. We may fall into people pleasing, martyring, numbing, isolating and other distortions to our needs. Familial and cultural programming reinforces this and to get back to our instinctive self we need to slow down and listen to our bodies.
In this class we will create a shared group state that will safely and compassionately explore anxiety and depression and their roots: unmet needs and suppressed feelings. There will be group participation, guided body-focused mediation and practical tools that you will able to immediately apply to better self-soothe and hone your connection with your own body and instincts.
